Whether you’re seeking soulful saxophone solos, engaging multi-instrument performances, or tailored music education, Dan Hutchinson combines experience, versatility, and heartfelt musicality to bring your vision to life.

About Dan “Hutch”

With over 25 years of dedication to music, Dan Hutchinson—known far and wide as “Hutch”—has turned his lifelong passion into a vibrant career. Inspired from a young age by performing in his grandmother’s basement, Hutch’s journey has taken him from local showcases to iconic stages such as the Stone Pony and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

A true multi-instrumentalist, Dan commands an impressive array of tools: alto, tenor, soprano and baritone saxophones, clarinet, flute, trumpet, keys, harmonica, guitar, mandolin, and even wind synthesizer. Paired with a versatile vocal that spans from a deep radio-announcer bass to a soaring falsetto, and an impeccable ear for harmony, Dan adds immeasurable dimension to the various ensembles with whom he works, reflecting his deep commitment to sound quality and versatility.

About

In addition to his playing, Dan is known for his stage presence. It is not uncommon to see him leave the stage to jump right into the center of the action for a solo. Where’s Dan? He’s in the balcony singing to a group of elderly patrons, bringing them in on the show. Or he’s across the stage dancing with the keyboardist and bringing the party atmosphere. All of this is done with the utmost sense of show and tactful performance. So toes are never stepped on.

Dan’s formative studies with luminaries such as Andy Fusco (Buddy Rich Big Band), Walt Weiskopf (Steely Dan), and Rob Stasolla (the Tokens) helped shape his dynamic playing and contemporary style  . Whether delivering fiery solos or lush arrangements, Hutch seamlessly blends technique with emotion.

A standout talent on the Jersey Shore and East Coast circuit, Dan has performed with many varied bands and artists, including:

  • 9South
  • The Jonzes
  • Michelle Moore (E Street Band connection)
  • Suit and Mai Tai
  • Frankie Zulferino
  • Spare Parts
  • Johnny Five is Alive

Dan can currently be seen playing saxophone, keys, guitars, and backing vocals with Tramps Like Us, the nation’s number one Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band. He is also a consistent presence on the Jersey Shore as a saxophonist and vocalist for the Pat Roddy Band. On occasion, Hutch can even be found singing barbershop with his quartet, Ovation.
